Get started
We have a quick 3 step process to getting underway with new clients looking to use Flexi Panels for their project. We’ll then be able to support you and the your Project Team trough the entire design & build journey.
-
The Flexi Offsite Construction Project Planning Guide & Breifing Pack provides you with all the information you need to know whether building with the Flexi System is right for you and your project.
It’s a discovery process aimed to guide you through all the aspects we assess early in a project.
This means if you’d prefer to do some research you can before reaching out.
understand more about what you’re wanting to build and what your project goals
define a rough size and timeframe
establish a site and potential required consultants
and most importantly establish a project budget
At the same time we’ll conduct background checks for site access, offsite project suitabilty etc
After this step, we’ll meet to formulise and present our findings and suggested project team.
-
After we’ve met with you in our Wellington Studio or on a Video Call, Established a Project Brief and Conducted background checks and offsite suitability, we’ll then have the right information to recommend suitable Flexi Design and Build Partners to help deliver your project.
Are you ready?
Design Process
Bespoke architecture designed specifcally for you and your site. Whether you have a designer and plans already, or you are just getting started, follow the below steps to ensuring your house can be built using Flexi Panels.
-
We’ll help you find the right designer for your project if you don’t already have one. Take a look at our preffered Flexi Design Partners if you need help.
-
You’ll meet with your Designer to establish a Project Design Brief with all your criteria and aspirations, followed by collating all the necessary information to begin the design process.
If you’d like to explore or use the Flexi Panel System, make sure your designer knows about this at the briefing stage.
-
Explores potential design solutions to help clients visulise their design brief.
Once exploring preliminary design directions an established Concept Design finalises this stage.
At this time it is a good idea to have your concept reviewed by Flexi for offsite suitabilty and feedback.
-
Develops upon the Concept Design to establish a complete scope and specification for the project.
-
Architectural plans, engineering and working drawings for council consent and construction.
-
We apply for building consent on your behalf in your reigion.
Offsite Manufacture Process
This is where Flexi changes the success of your project from good to exceptional. We deliver cost certainty with fixed price contracts, a coordinated 3D BIM Model that will highlight errors in design that would usually crop up onsite at the worst time, precision manufactured components, delivered to your door.
-
Panel Quote/ Panel Supply Contract Signed.
-
Design for Manufacture & Assembly
The DfMA process models in high fidelity, where we include a fully coordinated structural model to know exactly where every piece of timber, insulation and even window & doors go - significantly reducing errors during onsite construction. This level of detail is always missed in traditonal contruction and is the cause of nearly all construction project delays.
-
With all materials in factory, manufacturing begins. This happens in parellel to in ground services, foundations & any early site works.
-
Procurement of all Offsite Construction materials - LVL Framing, Plywood, Insulation, Membranes, and Windows & Doors.
-
We complete our Offsite Manufacturing with a thorough and documented QA procedure. Every panel and component is photographed for Structural Engineering reviews, Council Compliance documentation and our own piece of mind.
-
All our panels get bundled up in a tidy packet ready to deliver to site.
We canfreight nearly any size panel, however sticking to a transportation width of 3m is most economic and efficient.
Build Process
The onsite build process shifts from a flurry of uncoordinated trades to a smooth and pricise installation process. This process provides efficiency, cost certainty, de-risks your project and provides higher quality end result. Oh, and faster, much faster!
-
Choose one of our Flexi licencee Builder Partners near you or we’ll help to find someone suitable.
-
Ground Services and Foundations start happening in parallel to Panel Manufacturing.
If you’re building on slab, we always recommend a Fully Insualted Slab.
-
Flexi will attend the Installation to support the Main Cntractor/ Builder at no additional cost. However, if the builder is experienced with our system, this probably won’t be necessary.
-
This is where the Main Contractor/ Builder will finish the remaining onsite construction works including the services, cladding, linings and fitout through to CCC (Code of Compliance) and Handover.
-
Specific technical projects may require some construction monitoring. We’ll let you know during the design process if this is likely.
